At McKern, we consider ourselves to be much more than just an accounting firm; we are also a team who take pride in our involvement within our local and worldwide communities.

Our team find helping and assisting others to be a worthwhile and rewarding experience, and our approach to giving back is a distinguishing feature of McKern and a reflection of the generosity and kindness of the management and staff alike.

As a firm, we are proud to support and promote the following initiatives and organisations:

Compassion Australia Child Sponsorship

In 2013, the McKern staff unanimously decided to re-direct funds from our social club to provide regular support to three young children living in the Dominican Republic, East Indonesia and Rwanda. Through Child Sponsorship, our contribution to Compassion Australia provides food and clean water, medical care, educational opportunities, life-skills training and Christian teaching to children in third world communities.

Laptop Initiative

McKern donates used laptop computers to selected under-privelaged communities  Once hard drives have been cleared and the laptop computers have been serviced, they are distributed to enable young people within the workforce and education system to have greater resources and ultimately greater opportunities, impacting both their lives as individuals and also the quality of life of their families.

Youth Performance Racing (YPR)

Damien McKern is personally involved with running Youth Performance Racing (YPR).  The YPR group consists of a number of adolescent males and aims to provide them with life skills and the opportunity to fellowship on a Christian level.  The group gathers with their mentors once a fortnight to learn about and participate in car restoration. Their current project is ‘Project Excel’ – which involves working together to prepare and race a 1996-2000 Hyundai Excel. This project is beneficial to the growth and development of these young men, providing them with the opportunity to participate in extra curricular activities within a social and supportive environment.
