How do I know I am getting the right financial advice?
To give financial advice in Australia, an adviser must hold an Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) or be an authorised representative of a licensee. You can check any adviser on ASIC's Financial Advisers Register, and they must give you a Financial Services Guide (FSG) explaining who they are, what they're licensed to advise on and how they're paid.
In this video, McKern financial adviser Kristian Tangan explains how to avoid 'finfluencer' scams, why two licensed firms may still recommend different strategies (McKern combines investment advice with tax structuring), and what ongoing communication to expect: app access to your investments, regular reporting and at least one review a year. McKern & Associates is an authorised representative of Count Financial Limited, AFSL 227232.
